Draft Card

Fred’s received his Selective Service Card or as it was commonly referred to as  “draft card”

Notice the classification “II-A” which meant ….  Occupational deferment (other than agricultural and student).

He was working for Firestone Tire at the time and involved in recapping and re-treading tires. There was no rubber available during the war years, so the government placed a priority on rebuilding old tires.

At that time Dad was 34 supporting two children.

This is the front of the card. Notice the date.
